Easy Epi-Style Puff Pastry with Ham & Kewpie Pizza Sauce

Epi-style puff pastry made with ham, Kewpie Basil Pizza Sauce, and a drizzle of mayonnaise

These crispy, golden puff pastry twists are shaped like classic French epi bread and filled with savory ham and Kewpie Basil Pizza Sauce. Topped with a drizzle of mayo, they’re perfect as snacks, appetizers, or bento treats.

Ingredients (Makes 4 pieces)

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (approx. 80g), thawed
  • 2 slices ham (approx. 30g), cut lengthwise into 4 strips
  • 20g Kewpie Basil Pizza Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Kewpie Mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Let the frozen puff pastry thaw at room temperature.
  2. Cut the pastry lengthwise into 4 strips and roll each one out to about 5mm thick. Cut ham into matching strips.
  3. Spread each pastry strip with Kewpie Basil Pizza Sauce and top with a strip of ham. Fold the edges to the center and seal. Flip seam-side down.
  4. Use kitchen scissors to make diagonal slits about 1cm apart. Gently alternate the slits side to side to create an epi shape. Brush with mayonnaise on top.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven or toaster oven until golden and crispy.

Tip: These bake quickly, so keep an eye on them for perfect browning. Serve warm or pack cold in a bento box.
