Daikon Steak with Kewpie Grated Onion Dressing
Ingredients (Serves 2)
- 1/3 daikon (about 270g), peeled and cut into 1cm thick rounds
- Kaiware daikon sprouts – to garnish
- Salad oil – as needed
- 3 tablespoons Kewpie Grated Onion Dressing
Instructions
- Score both sides of the daikon rounds with shallow crisscross cuts about 5mm apart.
- Wrap the daikon in damp paper towel, place in a heat-safe dish, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave at 600W for about 3 minutes 30 seconds.
- Heat a frying pan with oil. Lightly sear the daikon until browned, then add the dressing and coat quickly.
- Plate the daikon and top with halved kaiware radish sprouts.

- Microwaving helps pre-cook the daikon for quicker searing and deeper flavor absorption.
- Crisscross scoring helps the heat and dressing penetrate the daikon more evenly.
